"God made me that way" This the plea of the Homosexuals, lesbians, alcoholics, and drug addicts.
1. The truth of the matter is mankind is created in the image of God. "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." (Genesis 1:27). The way this was done is "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" (Genesis 2:7). Then the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." (Genesis 2:18). He brought all the animals to man to see what he would call them and Adam named them all but "there was not found an help meet for him." (Genesis 2:20). "And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man made he a woman, and brought her unto man." "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." (Genesis 2:21-23). The conclusion was, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." (Genesis 2:24). Then God blessed them and told them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it." (Genesis 1:28). It is from this human pair that all human beings on earth have come after many generations. If it had not been this way there would be no human beings on earth today. God made the woman to bear children with the agency of man being involved. To accomplish this he made sexual attraction and sexual drive in the man and the woman. Then he gave a law that man was to leave father and mother and cleave to his wife and they were to be one flesh. All through the years this has been God's program for human beings. Hebrews 13:4 says marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Marriage is made honorable by observing God's law of one man marry one woman and they are to live together in holy matrimony all the days of their lives. God binds the one woman to one man and only death is to separate that union (Romans 7:1-4). This is God's way of replenishing the earth. This is made honorable by their loving one another, having consideration for one another, protecting one another, making provision for one another and other members of the family, and by faithfulness to one another.
2. Deviations of this plan are sinful in God's eyes. He says for a man or woman to lust after another than his wife or husband it is the sin of "lasciviousness". He calls any sexual activity outside of that with the marriage partner "fornication" and "adultery". God also gives up those who leave the natural use and says they are worthy of death. (Romans 1:26-32).
3. People engaging in sinful activities do so because they choose to do so - not because God made them that way. God cannot be tempted by evil and neither does he tempt any man (James 1:13-15). Man sins because of his own lusts and giving in to wrong activities. This includes lesbianism, homosexual activity, drunkenness, and drug addiction.
4. The reason people say God made them the way they are is because they do not want to face the responsibilities God gave them. They should keep in mind that all people need to "fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God, shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." (Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14). God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world by Christ (Acts 17:30,31). "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5:10). Keep in mind that homosexuality, lesbianism, drunkenness, and drug addiction is bad and unless people repent of these things they face a terrible punishment in eternity. (Revelation 21:8).
5. People who engage in these sinful activities need to know their sinful conditions, turn from them, and come to God in obedience to tbe gospel. "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the Spirit of our God" (I Corinthians 6:9-11). The way to be washed, sanctified, and justified is by hearing the gospel (Romans 10:17), Believing on Christ (Acts 16:31), Repenting of these sinful activities (which means to change the mind about sinning and quiting wrong doing), (Acts 17:30), and being baptized to wash away sins (Acts 22: 16). After doing these things one will be right with God and it will be up to people to live the rest of their lives in accordance to the plan of God. "As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live.." (Ezekiel 33:11). -C.D.
